Thailand Masters 2024: Leo/Daniel Become First Indonesian Representative Failed To Quarter Finals

Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin failed to reach the quarter-finals of Thailand Masters 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Leo Rolly Carnando / Daniel Marthin face the host's men's doubles, Peeratchai Sukphun / Pakkapon Teeraratsakul in the last 16 of Thailand Masters 2024 at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Indonesian men's doubles failed to advance to the quarter-finals after being defeated by the host pair in the rubber games, 17-21, 21-19, and 16-21 matches.

Leo/Daniel have played fiercely since the beginning of the first set. They chased points until the opponent closed the event with a narrow advantage of 11-10.

After the break, Leo/Daniel and Peeratchai/Pakkapon were still involved in intense competition. The furthest point difference was only three points when Thailand's doubles were 18-15.

Unfortunately, Leo/Rolly failed to secure the first set after the points were stopped at 17.

Luckily, in the second set Leo/Rolly got up. Despite the strong resistance, they were able to secure the game with a score of 21-19.

Again, since the beginning of the second game chasing numbers. Leo/Daniel had moved away in the interval with an 11-9 advantage.

However, the opponent had equalized 13-13. After that, Leo/Daniel always led until they were 19-15.

However, Peeratchai/Pakkapon can approach with two consecutive points up to 17-19. In fact, they almost equalized with a score of 19-20.

Fortunately, Leo/Daniel immediately secured the second game through the first attempt.

Leo/Daniel's slick appearance in the second game did not continue in the determination set.

They even fell far behind after the 13-19 interval. When Peeratchai/Pakkapon reached match point 20-13, Leo/Daniel began to rise.

The 2024 Indonesia Masters champion won three consecutive points which brought the distance closer to 16-20. Unfortunately, their efforts did not continue and Peeratchai/Pakkapon took the third set with a score of 21-16.

Leo/Daniel became the first Indonesian representatives to die in the round of 16 of Thailand Masters 2024.

They failed to follow in the footsteps of the women's doubles Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi who qualified for the quarter-finals after beating the Chinese women's doubles Taipei in two straight sets.

Febriana/Amalia did not encounter any significant difficulties against Hsu Yun-Hui/Lin Jhih Yun. The pair won two straight games with a score of 21-14 and 24-22.

Febriana/Amalia followed the men's doubles Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri who also walked into the quarter-finals.

Bagas/Fikri won over South Korean men's doubles, Ko Sung-hyun/Shin Baek-cheol, after the opponent withdrew due to injury. At that time, Bagas/Fikri were leading 5-0 in the first set.

Six other Indonesian representatives will play on the last 16 of Thailand Masters 2024 today, February 1, 2024.
