The Reduction Of The Indonesian National Team To The Last 16 Depends On Other Matches, Shin Tae-yong Doesn't Want Stress Players To Wait

The fall of the Indonesian national team to the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup is determined by another group match (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - The 1-3 defeat received by the Indonesian national team against Japan in the last match of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup made the status of qualifying for the round of 16 even steeper.

The Garuda squad still has to wait for the results of the matches between Oman vs Kyrgyzstan and Jordan vs Bahrain which will appear on Thursday, January 25, 2024, WIB night.

Regarding this situation, Shin Tae-yong appealed to the players to think too much about it to make them stressed. This South Korean tactician asked the Garuda squad players to rest and calm their minds.

"Tomorrow (Thursday) we will rest and will see the results of the match in other groups. I want to let them (players) relax without stress. I will let them watch alone," said Shin Tae-yong after the match on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

Shin Tae-yong said that after the tough match against Japan, his team did need to rest for recovery. The coach also did not comment much about the chance to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup.

"Los or not, normally it is a recovery, so tomorrow (January 25, 2024) will rest.

"Of course anything can happen. I can't say anything for tomorrow. I'm reluctant to comment," said Shin Tee-yong.

The Indonesian national team should be able to ensure a ticket to the round of 16 through the best third-placed route. The condition is that they must win or at least draw against Japan.

The scheme that could make the Indonesian national team qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup was that Bahrain lost by a minimum difference of three goals from Jordan or the duel between Kyrgyzstan and Oman ended in a maximum draw.

The Indonesian national team can also qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup if Kyrgyzstan win no more than one goal difference over Oman.
