Indonesia Masters 2024: Shesar Immediately Ran Aground In Qualification

Men's singles badminton player Shesar Hiren Rhustavito ran aground in the 2024 Indonesia Masters (doc. PBSI) qualification.

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Shesar Hiren Rhustavito immediately failed in the 2024 Indonesia Masters qualifying round.

Shesar had to go home early from the Super 500 BWF event after losing three in the game with a score of 17-21, 21-12, and 15-21 against India's representative, Kiran George, at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

"It's sad to fail to enter the main round. After this I have to work hard to be able to catch up on points so that I can appear in big tournaments," Shesar said after the match.

Meanwhile, in another match for women's singles, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo got sweet results. He got a ticket to the main round after his opponent from Thailand Pitchamon Opatniputh withdrew in the middle of the match.

Ester already won the first game 21-12 and was 3-1 up when her opponent decided not to continue the match. Pitchamon stepped down after experiencing problems on the right thigh.

"I am happy that my first debut in the tournament at the Indonesia Masters 2024 could go straight into the round of 32," said the 2023 SEA Games bronze medalist.

In the main round, Ester will challenge Canadian women's singles, Wen Yu Zhang. The world number 47 badminton player qualified after the Spanish representative, Clara Azurmendi, resigned.

In addition to the qualifying round, several round 32 matches will also take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. The main round match will start at 16.00 WIB.

Indonesian representatives who will appear are the men's doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana.
