Shin Tae-yong: The Luck Of The Indonesian National Team Is Thanks To Prayers And Support For Supporters

Shin Tae-yong thanked the Indonesian national team supporters who continued to support the match against Vietnam (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team won three points in the second match of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup against Vietnam at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Friday, January 19, 2024.

Garuda's squad narrowly won 1-0 through captain Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar's single goal in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot.

Shin Tae-yong admits the victory of his foster children thanks to a small lucky factor.

"Both teams are trying their best and this is a good match. We won thanks to a bit of luck," said Shin Tae-yong after the match.

The luck, according to Shin Tae-yong, was born because of the support and prayers of Indonesian supporters, both those who watched live or on the screen.

An injection of enthusiasm from supporters made the Indonesian national team appear with high determination throughout the match.

"I want to thank the fans. They helped the Indonesian national team perform very well," said the South Korean coach.

The Indonesian national team still has one Group D match for the 2023 Asian Cup against Japan on January 24, 2024. The Garuda squad will fight desperately in the group's last match to qualify directly for the knockout phase.

So far, the Indonesian national team is in third place in Group D standings with three points. The score is the same as that of Japan, which has a goal difference advantage.
