Had Time To Lead Liga 1 2023/2024, This Referee Gets A Task In The 2023 Asian Cup

Yusuke Araki is on the 2023 Asian Cup referee list and has led the 2023/2024 Liga 1 match (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has released a list of referees who will serve in the 2023 Asian Cup from 12 January to 10 February 2024 in Qatar.

From the list that has been announced since September 14, 2023, it is known that there are 33 referees, 37 assistant referees, and two referees each and assistant reserve referees. The number also includes two referees and three female referee assistants assigned.

In the list, there are indeed no referees from Indonesia on duty. However, there are referees from Southeast Asia, such as from Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.

Although there was no referee from Indonesia who served in the 2023 Asian Cup, there was one referee who turned out to have led Liga 1 2023/2024. The referee was Yusuke Araki who came from Japan.

Yusuke Araki had won two 2023/2024 Liga 1 matches, precisely in the 22nd and 23rd weeks. At that time, the 37-year-old referee served in the match between Persita Tangerang and Persikabo 1973 at the Indomilk Arena, Tangerang, on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

In addition, Yusuke Araki was also assigned to lead the match between Persis Solo vs Dewa United at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java, a week later.

Of Yusuke's two matches, his leadership is considered satisfactory and fair enough for all teams.

Although it has been confirmed that he will be one of the referees who will participate in the 2023 Asian Cup, it is not yet known for sure what match will be led by Yusuke Araki.

To facilitate the referee's performance and ensure the accuracy of the match, the AFC has also confirmed that they will present a video assistant referee (VAR).

This technology will begin to be implemented from the last eight until the 2023 Asian Cup final.

In addition, the Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) system that utilizes 12 special cameras and artificial intelligence will also be implemented in a total of 51 2023 Asian Cup matches.

That way, this is the first time SAOT has been used in the AFC competition and made the AFC the first confederation to implement the system at the level of the continental men's national team.
