JAKARTA The athlete who shot Audrey Zahra Dhiyaanisa hopes to get the best results at the 2024 Asian Air Rifle/Pistol Championship to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Dhiyaanisa's opportunity to qualify for the world's largest four-year multi-event could be maintained if he qualified for the final number 50 meter 3 position rifle at Senayan Shooting Field on Saturday, January 13, 2024.

Dhiyaanisa said that qualifying was not easy because of the intense competition with athletes from other countries, especially India and South Korea. However, the provision of trials and experience made him confident.

"We can also balance them. We have tested abroad. We have practiced a lot and have participated in international matches. In addition, we also have experience and just have to try," he said.

Previously, Dhiyaanisa had undergone trials in Azerbaijan and South Korea. In addition, he also brought the experience of appearing at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 (2023) even though he had not received the best results at the event.

Dhiyaanisa said that currently there are more promising developments than in previous years. Therefore, he is quite confident in competing in the 2024 Asia Air Rifle/Pistol Championship.

"We have made progress from the previous year. We can start competing. Some have entered the final. In fact, now some have passed the quota," he said.

At the weekend, Dhiyaanisa had to go through the qualifying round first to get a ticket to the final.

Even if he doesn't get a medal in the final, his fate for the Olympics remains open with the records of countries that have received medals that have met the quota.

If that scenario occurs, the remaining quota will be delegated to other countries. However, Dhiyaanisa needs to try to keep finishing best.

"Hopefully we can participate in the final and get a quota. We have to be optimistic. We have to enter the final first. From the final, India and others have received quotas and we have the opportunity. If the ranking can't because it depends on the results in the final," explained Dhiyaanisa.

Currently, the shooting sport has secured one ticket through Fathur Gustafian after finishing fourth in the men's 10 meter air rifle.

Despite finishing fourth, Fathur remained at the 2024 Paris Olympics because China and India, who won gold and bronze medals, had met the world's largest multi-yearly quota.
