Joseph Parker Wins WBO Intercontinental and WBC International Belts after Defeating Deontay Wilder

JAKARTA - Joseph Parker managed to beat Deontay Wilder with a unanimous decision victory of 118-111, 118-110 and 120-108 in a heavyweight duel entitled Day of Reckoning at Kingdom Arena, Saudi Arabia, Sunday, December 24, 2023.

This victory allowed Parker to secure the WBO Intercontinental and WBC International championship belts which were previously vacant plus 10 million US dollars or around Rp. 154 billion.

Meanwhile, Wilder's defeat was certainly beyond many people's predictions. The thing is, the American boxer is favored to get past Parker in order to realize his duel against Anthony Joshua.

However, it turned out that Parker appeared dominant for 12 rounds which made him win by a unanimous decision.

The New Zealand boxer showed resilience as well as a great desire to prove himself as a serious contender in the heavyweight class.

Arguably, this was the biggest win of Parker's career, along with his world title win in 2016. Instantly, his name was catapulted back into the world of major heavyweights and he may be worth another million dollar payday in 2024.

As an illustration, just look at Parker's situation last year. He is in limbo after a one-sided loss to British boxer Joe Joyce.

Many questions then arise as to whether Parker will continue to fight in his professional boxing career.

In fact, the 31-year-old boxer fought someone who was far from famous in May 2023 because he was so desperate.

Joseph Parker finally got through a rough patch. He has proven himself in the eyes of the fans. A former world champion, he fought on the biggest stage in 2018 against boxing's biggest stars, before he was 30 years old.
