Gresini Racing Team Boss Fausto Gresini Critical

JAKARTA - Fausto Gresini's health condition is getting worse. The 60-year-old man is in an induced coma in hospital for the second time.

Gresini is the boss of the Gresini Racing team, which cooperates with the brand from the Indonesian management company MP1, Indonesian Racing, as the main sponsor to compete in the Moto3 event.

Gresini, two-time world champion in the 125cc class in the 1980s, was hospitalized in Bologna after catching COVID-19 last December. She was in an induced coma last month when her condition improved.

However, complications forced the medical staff to reinstall the respirator machines and left Gresini in a coma and remains in intensive care.

"Fausto Gresini is still being treated in the hospital in the intensive care unit ... because of the severe respiratory problems that continued after the COVID-19 infection," the team said in a statement reported by Antara, Friday, February 19.

"Unfortunately, complications occur which make the current clinical picture critical."

"The hospital staff is continuing treatment with the highest possible intensity, with the hope of restoring the function of the organs, which are already severely impaired."

Gresini Racing has launched teams in the Moto2 and Moto3 classes for the 2021 season on Wednesday.

In the Moto3 class, they took Indonesian Racing, a brand from the Indonesian management company MP1, as the main sponsor.

Indonesian Racing is also a sponsor of the Moto2 Gresini team, where Federal Oil is their main sponsor.

"We want to do our best for ourselves and Fausto," said Gresini Moto2 team rider Fabio Di Giannantonio.

"He will not give up and will come back stronger than before."
