JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) and the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) are planning to establish an H2O Racing racing school in the Lake Toba area.

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries assessed that the establishment of the racing school by carrying the name Aquabike H2O Racing Training Center was not without reason.

Odo RM Manuhutu, Deputy for Tourism and Creative Economy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs, assessed that training centers are the foundation for training and developing the potential of the younger generation in the Lake Toba area, especially jetski.

"We hope that later the people of Toba will not only act as spectators, but also actively participate in various international events held in Lake Toba," said Odo on the sidelines of the 2023 Aquabike World Championship.

Furthermore, Odo revealed the idea of making the jetski racing school appear after holding several international championships on Lake Toba.

In addition to the Aquabike World Championship 2023, as is known Lake Toba will also host the F1 Powerboat in February 2023.

Meanwhile, Ananda Mikola, Deputy Chairperson of IMI, admitted that she was ready to cooperate with the Government to develop the Aquabike H2O Racing Training Center.

"Toba Lake has great potential," Ananda said as quoted by ANTARA.

Ananda further added that the Aquabike H2O Racing Training Center will give birth to the best talents who will later be able to appear as the Indonesian Racing team. Thus, Indonesia's branding in the arena for international events also soared.

No wonder, looking at the potential, ideas emerged in the future to hold a similar inter-school level championship to screen potential seeds. The plan is expected to be realized in March 2024.

"We will discuss the details later. For participants, the age range is 15 years," said Ananda.

Even though the water racing event is not yet so familiar with the general public, aquabike jetski is quite popular in big cities.

The hope is that the proliferation of water sports activities can encourage tourism development, especially super priority destinations such as Lake Toba.
