Lionel Messi's Jersey Of 2022 World Cup Champion Is Estimated To Be Carving A Record At Auction

JAKARTA - Six jersey worn by Lionel Messi on the way brought Argentina to win the 2022 World Cup championship to make a record when it began to be auctioned by the end of this month.

Sotheby's auction house said the jerseys would be the most valuable sports memorabilia collection. The collection included the jersey worn by Messi in the first round of the final match in Qatar.

"This extraordinary collection is estimated to be worth more than 10 million US dollars, with sales that are ready to become the most valuable sports memorabilia collection in auction," Sotheby's was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Some of the auction results from the costumes worn by La Pulga will be donated to the Unicas project. The project was led by the Sant Joan De Deu Children Hospital (SJD) Barcelona with the support of the Leo Messi Foundation.

The donation will be used to meet the needs of children suffering from rare diseases. However, Sotheby's did not specify how much would be donated to charity.

Auction for white and blue blue costumes will open from 30 November to 14 December 2023. That day coincides with a general exhibition to show off these collections.

So far, Jersey Michael Jordan during the 1998 NBA final opening match still holds the highest price record for sports memorabilia items worn during the match.

The jersey was sold at 10.1 million dollars last year. However, this record will most likely be passed by the auction of the costume of the owner of the eight ballon d'Or.
