PSM Sanctioned By FIFA Because Giancarlo Rodrigues Salary Arrears, Juku Eja Threatened Not To Be Able To Participate In The Competition

JAKARTA - The International Football Federation (FIFA) has imposed sanctions on PSM Makassar. Juku Eja's troops are caught in a salary dispute with former player Giancarlo Rodrigues.

This penalty was affirmed by the competition operator PT. Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) in a letter numbered 024/LIB-KOM/II/2021 regarding the Affirmation of the Implementation of the FIFA Decision against the Makassar PSM Club dated February 15, 2021.

"The letter is in accordance with the instructions from PSSI and we immediately follow up," said President Director of PT. LIB Akhmad Hadian Lukita to reporters in Jakarta, Monday yesterday.

In the letter, based on the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee Ref. nr. FDD-7297, FIFA 'Dispute Resolution Chamber' number Ref. nr. 20-01217 and PSSI letter numbered 2053/UDN/836/I-2021, LIB emphasizes three things related to the sanctions received by PSM.

The penalties are, first, FIFA decided to punish the PSM Makassar club in the form of a ban on player registration both at the national and international levels for a maximum of three registration periods or until the club's obligations can be completed.

Second, based on the PSSI letter, LIB will block the registration system with the PSM Makassar club until the club's obligations are fulfilled.

Finally, LIB delivered a copy of its decision letter to all participating clubs in League 1 and League 2 2020 regarding the implementation of the prohibition on registering national and international players to PSM Makassar.

LIB and PSSI themselves want League 1 and Liga 2 Indonesia for the 2021 season to roll after Eid al-Fitr, starting in May or June 2021.

If the competition goes according to plan and PSM has not fulfilled its obligation to settle Giancarlo Rodrigues' arrears of salary, then the club nicknamed Juku Eja cannot register a single player with Indonesian or foreign nationality.

That means they are threatened with not being involved in the Indonesian League 1 season 2021.

Regarding Giancarlo Rodrigues, through his social media account, the Brazilian footballer had complained about his rights that had not been paid by PSM.

The 31-year-old man left PSM at the end of 2020. Currently, Rodrigues is grazing for Sheikh Russel's club in the Bangladesh League.
