The 2024 IBL Team Decreased Again After The Mountain Gold Timika License Was Revoked

Mountain Gold Timika will not compete in IBL 2024 after its license is revoked due to salary arrears (doc. IBL).

JAKARTA The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) management officially revoked the membership license for the Mountain Gold Timika club.

IBL as the operator of the highest level basketball competition in Indonesia sees that efforts to resolve the internal Mountain Gold Timika problem cannot be completed until the set deadline.

One of the problems that stick to the surface is none other than about the rights of players. Mountain Gold Timika is embedded in salary arrears.

We revoked the Mountain Gold Timika license based on the long process of assisting the club regarding the problems experienced. Various mediation efforts were made so that in the end the league decided in accordance with the IBL implementation regulations Chapter II Article 7 Paragraph 2 Point 2.2 Point 2.2.2 concerning the Decision to Revocation of IBL Club Licenses.

"This can happen because the club does not pay the basic salary, contract money, bonuses and other allowances for more than three months from the end of the season," reads the IBL's official statement.

IBL has started summoning the management of Mountain Gold Timika since July 25, 2023. Then the meeting continued on August 9, 2023, lying down by issuing the first warning letter by IBL to Mountain Gold Timika.

Apparently, the issue of salary arrears has also not been completed within the deadline for the first warning letter. Therefore, IBL issued a second warning letter on August 31, 2023.

On September 1, 2023, IBL held a meeting with Mountain Gold Timika management and players and related parties. The meeting was to agree with the deadline for the completion of financial obligations to the parties.

However, the management of Mountain Gold Timika has not yet completed their obligations. Finally, on October 24, 2023, IBL again sent a third warning letter to Mountain Gold Timika," IBL wrote on its official website.

Although it has continued to the third warning letter, the management of Mountain Gold Timika has not been able to solve the issue of player and official rights until the deadline of November 2023.

As a result, IBL had to decide to revoke the Mountain Gold Timika license.

"The process carried out by IBL is quite careful. We see not only implementing regulations, but also the implications for the decisions taken. Considering that November 2023 has entered an intensive preparation period for the clubs to face a new season, this decision is best for the club situation and the status of the players."

"Of course it can give players space and time to compete by looking for a new club," continued the IBL statement.

Even though IBL has revoked the license, the obligation to settle the rights of the players and officials listed on the agreement and agreement with the Mountain Gold Timika (companies) must still be finalized.

The settlement must be in accordance with what was agreed upon by the parties, including legal implications for the default article arising from the negligence.

As is known, Mountain Gold Timika is the second team to cancel their appearance at IBL for the 2024 season. Previously, the Indonesia Patriots would also not take part next season.
