Korea Masters 2023: Ester Falls In Semifinals

JAKARTA Indonesia ran out of representatives at the Korea Masters 2023 after the women's singles trip Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo stopped in the semifinals.

Ester failed to reach the final round after losing three games 14-21, 21-15, and 12-21 against Japanese women's singles Tomoka Miyazaki at the Gwangju Women's University Stadium, Saturday, November 11, 2023.

"I've tried to play optimally, but indeed today's opponent is stronger on the field. I didn't manage to stem and rally him," said Ester after the match.

In the first game, Ester took the lead from the start and had a 10-6 lead. However, the opponent rose and scored ten points in a row after that.

Ester then secured the second game after playing tight. Unfortunately, in the game he decided he had problems with endurance and thighs.

"The first game actually started well, but when I was overtaken, I lost focus. Like a blank, confused about what to play," said Ester.

"My second game improved and was able to take advantage. Unfortunately in the third game, after my resistance interval decreased and my thigh was already very attractive. That made it difficult for me so that he was free to play the pattern he wanted," he added.

Ester said that even though she lost, she was very grateful to be able to reach the first semifinals in the Super 300 BWF level tournament.

"This is a good lesson and experience. A little bit already know what the map and strength of competition are like. In the future I have to increase the strength of my legs, physical and strength. In addition, I have to be more mature in how to play," he said.

Indonesia has sent a total of seven representatives to this event. However, Ester is the only representative who managed to penetrate the semifinals.
