JAKARTA – Men's singles coach Irwansyah praised the results obtained by Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting at the 2023 French Open.
In the Super 750 BWF level event, Jonathan succeeded in emerging as champion, while Anthony Ginting's journey stopped in the quarter-finals.
"Thank God Jonathan was able to win the 2023 French Open. Overall, the results are very satisfying," said Irwansyah in the statement he received.
The success of defeating Li Shi Feng at the French Open this year means that Jonathan has now collected a total of three titles on the 2023 BWF World Tour calendar.
The two other titles previously collected by the owner of the 2018 Asian Games gold medal were the Indonesia Masters and the Hong Kong Open, which are both at Super 500 BWF level.
"I hope that the winning results here will be more consistent in every championship and hopefully his self-confidence will be even better," said Irwansyah.
Meanwhile for Ginting, Irwansyah said his performance at the French Open was quite satisfactory. It's just that there are several aspects that need to be addressed.
"Even though Ginting stopped in the last eight, overall his game has continued to show progress," he said.
"Only after finishing the French Open, when I return to Jakarta, I want to strengthen my leg muscles again," he added.
In this year's calendar, Anthony Ginting is recorded as having only collected one title. He won the only title after beating Anders Antonsen in the Singapore Open final last June.
