Denmark Open 2023 Results: Even Though They Have Implemented The Pattern Properly, Ana/Tiwi Are Still Unable To Pass The Seed

JAKARTA - Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi's women's doubles failed in the quarter-finals of the Denmark Open 2023. Ana/Tiwi failed to reach the semifinals after a dramatic loss of three games 21-17, 14-21, and 17-21 against Japan's eighth seed, Mayu Matsumoto/Wakana Nagahara, Friday, October 20.

Febriana said that their own mistakes were one of the causes of this defeat. Even though the pattern of the game they apply is correct.

"The game pattern that we implemented today is correct, it's already running, but sometimes we are in too hurry. We really don't want the rallies to continue playing, we want to look for points, only the position is sometimes not right, so the return of the ball is not accurate," said the athlete who is familiarly called Ana, after the match.

"We feel that our development has increased, from the way we play we can already know what pattern we want to use in the field and of course we continue to try to do better," he added.

This is Ana/Tiwi's second defeat to the Mayu/Wakana pair. Before this, they had already tasted defeat at the Singapore Open this year.

Pratiwi said this defeat was a crushing blow for him and his partner. Moreover, they started the third and good game and took the lead several times.

"After what happened at the World Championships and the China Open (it was far ahead but was eventually overtaken and lost), we remember how sick and sad it was," he said.

"It makes our determination and our willingness to rise stronger, we make it a lesson and then move on because life must continue," he added.

Ana/Tiwi's return makes Indonesia now just have to hope that the three representatives will fight for tickets to the semifinals tonight. The three representatives are the men's doubles duo Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and the men's singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.
