Qualifying For The 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Round, Shin Tae-yong Pede Indonesian National Team Can Compete

JAKARTA The coach of the Indonesian U-23 national team (Timnas), Shin Tae-yong, has full confidence that his team can compete with other strong countries in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup finals in Qatar.

The South Korean tactician led the Garuda Troops to get tickets for the final round after defeating Turkmenistan 2-0 in the last Group K qualifying match at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java, Tuesday, September 12 evening.

"I dare to talk, we can compete enough in the Asian Cup (U-23 2024) later," Shin said in a press conference after the match as reported by Antara.

However, this confidence must be supported by the desired composition of players. Especially players who have careers abroad must obtain permission from the club to defend the Indonesian national team.

The players in question of the coach are Elkan Baggot (Ipswich Town), Ivar Jenner (Jong FC Utrecht), Rafael Struick (ADO Den Hague), Marselino Ferdinand (KMSK Debize), and Pratama Arhan (Tokyo Verdy).

"The problem is whether the club is released or not. That's the most important thing. If I can be called everyone, I am brave and sure to accept the challenge to perform better," said the 52-year-old coach Shin.

The U-23 Indonesian national team completed two U-23 2024 Asian Cup qualifying matches with perfect results. They won two wins from two matches, scored 11 goals, and conceded no goals.

Before beating Turkmenistan, Elkan Baggot and his friends first won 9-0 against Taiwan.

Meanwhile, this U-23 Asian Cup ticket made Shin make a record of being the first coach in the history of the Indonesian national team to pass three levels of the national team to the Asian Cup finals.

Prior to this, Shin had brought the senior national team to the 2023 Asian Cup and brought the U-20 national team to the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup.
