JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo introduced Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2023 Asian Para Games Angela Tanoesoedibjo to the Indonesian NPC (NPCI) national training athletes on Saturday (26/8).
On Friday (25/8), Angela had just received the responsibility of becoming CdM of the Indonesian contingent for the Asian Para Games.
"I just heard that I got an assignment as CdM Asian Para Games 2023 last week. At first I didn't believe it a little bit because for me this task was extraordinary," Angela said as quoted by Antara, Sunday.
"Usually I lead a tourism delegation and the creative economy but this time I brought the Asian Para Games Indonesia contingent. So once I found out I was appointed as CdM and I confirmed directly to Mas Menpora, I immediately learned as much as possible about sports with disabilities," added the figure who also serves as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Meanwhile, Menpora Dito believes that Angela Tanoesoedibjo is the right person to lead the Indonesian contingent at the upcoming Asian Para Games.
"The appointment of Mrs. Angela Tanoesoedibjo as CdM is based on the results of discussions with Mr. President Joko Widodo. Angela is a young person who is in government and cares about sports. I think this very large energy can bring the Indonesian contingent to success at the Asian Para Games later," said Menpora Dito.
"I think Angela's election is a symbol that sports and tourism are closely related. In the future, sport tourism in Indonesia will be boosted," added the youngest minister in President Joko Widodo's cabinet.

The NPCI is currently holding a national training program for the 2023 Asian Para Games which is attended by 134 athletes.
Indonesia will compete in 12 sports, namely para-athletics, para-badminton, para-table tennis, para-swimming, para-heavy-lifting, para-cycling, para-shooting, para-panahan, para-tours, boccia, blind judo, and lagn bowls.
By considering the results of the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta, when Indonesia is ranked fifth in the medal standings, the Red-White contingent is targeted to occupy the top ten in the final standings of the 2023 Asian Para Games.
