League Results 1: Playing At Home, Persija Jakarta Held To A Draw With Arema FC 2-2

JAKARTA Persija Jakarta failed to win, despite competing at home. The Kemayoran Tigers were matched by guests from Malang, Arema FC with a score of 2-2 in the Liga 1 continued match at Patriot Chardrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, 20 August 2023.

The hosts took the lead through their former Polish national team player, Majidec Gajos in the 23rd minute. But Arema was able to equalize through Brazilian striker Gustavo Almeida in the 33rd minute.

Persija took the lead again in extra time for the first half, through Hanif Sjahbandi in the 45'+3' minute. The position lasted 2-1 until the final whistle of the first half was blown.

Persija seemed to be ahead when Arema did not add a goal until the end of the second half. But the surprise occurred in the 88th minute, when Gustavo Almeida was again able to break into Persija's goal which was guarded by Andritany Ardhiyasa.

The score remained 2-2 until the match was marked by a red card for Persija's player, Firza Andika, was over. Persija have not been able to rise, after being defeated by Madura United 0-2 last week. While the result of this series is the third for Arema FC from nine matches, which the Singo Edan Team has never won at all.
