Arsenal Silence Nottingham In Matchday 1 Premier League

JAKARTA - Arsenal won three points on matchday 1 of the English Premier League 2023/2024 after beating Nottingham Forest 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's two goals came in the first half through Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka. Nottingham was only able to reduce the gap in the round through Taiwo Awoniyi's goal.

This victory made Arsenal rank second behind Manchester City who won 3-0 over Burnley, according to the official Premier League website.

Arsenal immediately took control of the game and forced Nottingham to stay.

Nottingham almost scored in the 11th minute. Yah Johnson escaped from the offside position and just faced goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, but the shot bounced over the net.

Arsenal were finally able to open the scoring in the 26th minute. The goal started with Gabriel Martinelli's action, the ball fell at the feet of Eddie Nketiah to finish being a goal. The score became 1-0.

The Gunners managed to increase their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute. Bukayo Saka's shot from outside the penalty box failed to be stopped by goalkeeper Matt Turner.

Until halftime, Arsenal still led 2-0.

Arsenal continued to dominate the game in the second half and continued to lock up Nottingham.

However, Mikel Arteta's squad struggled to penetrate Nottingham's defense and only fired from outside the penalty box.

Nottingham Forest could actually reduce the gap in the 82nd minute. Through a quick counter-attack, Taiwo Awoniyi scored after grabbing Anthony Elanga's cross. The position is 2-1.

The goal made Nottingham play more attacking. However, no additional goals were created. Arsenal narrowly won 2-1 over Nottingham Forest.
