Ran Aground At The 2023 Japan Open, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting Admits The Strength Of The Host's Deputy

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's singles badminton player, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, acknowledged Kanta Tsuneyama's superiority. This was revealed after he ran aground in the last 32 of the Japan Open 2023.

When meeting at Yoyogi Gymnasium, Tokyo on Wednesday, July 26, Ginting surrendered 13-21 in the first game and 18-21 in the second game. According to Ginting, this defeat could not be separated from the impressive performance of the opponent and the many mistakes made by himself.

"My performance today is not optimal, not satisfied with the results. Indeed, the opponent played well, from the first game he continued to pressure me," Ginting said after the match in a PBSI release quoted Wednesday, July 26.

"In the second game when I changed the pattern of the game and controlled the game, in crucial points he changed the game and succeeded. Volunteers may also be different because playing as hosts certainly adds motivation," Ginting said about the course of the match.

Before meeting at the 2023 Japan Open, Ginting and Kanta had several meetings. It was recorded that there were six matches that brought the two together where the last one was at the 2023 Asian Championships in April.

According to Ginting, Tsuneyama, who is also the representative of the host, managed to block the road because he was able to maximize the advantages and exploit the opponent's weaknesses.

"The rest are because we have met several times. So we already know each other's weaknesses and strengths. Only a few things in the field I couldn't handle, while the opponent managed to overcome it," said Ginting.

Although he intends to present the best in this event, the final result obtained is not something that weakens Ginting. According to him, there is an evaluation that can be taken to improve performance after appearing at the Japan Open 2023.

"Obviously I want to get maximum results in every tournament, but the name of the match must be win or lose. This is a lesson and evaluation for me," Ginting added.
