Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana will be out of the field for several months due to an ACL injury.

"Bek Wesley Fofana suffered anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and will undergo surgery," Chelsea wrote as quoted by Antara from the club's official statement, Wednesday.

The former Leicester City defender has been ruled out of Chelsea's pre-season tour in America because he is currently undergoing treatment with the club's medical team.

"The 22-year-old will not go to America to participate in the club's pre-season preparations because they are receiving medical treatment," Chelsea wrote.

The French player was brought in by Chelsea from Leicester for a dowry of 70 million in the transfer market last summer.

This injury was an injury for the umpteenth time that hit Fofana. While strengthening The Foxes, Fofana suffered a long injury that kept her from pulling over for nearly seven months.

With Chelsea, Fofana has just suffered a knee injury which forced her to pull out for four months. Last season Fofana only performed 20 times in all competitions as she spent more time fighting injuries.

With Fofana's injury, Chelsea, which is confirmed not to be strengthened by center-back Benoit Badiashile, now only has the option of centre-back Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, ction Gilchrist, and Bashirosyur to undergo pre-season tours.
