JAKARTA - The World Superbike (WSBK) agenda has been held twice at the Mandalika Circuit. However, unpleasant issues have now surfaced.

The Mandalika Circuit is rumored to be no longer holding WSBK races due to losses. The plan to remove WSBK from the Mandalika Circuit was widely discussed on social media after a post emerged from the @LambeResing account.

The account wrote about InJourney's plan to delete the WSBK event with the title Mandalika will cross out WSBK?

The reason is, InJourney as the manager of the circuit lost up to Rp100 trillion. This news was discussed and trending on Twitter.

"InJourney's Managing Director, Dony Maritalia, stated that Mandalika will remove the WSBK event from their calendar for causing losses of up to Rp100 billion," the account was quoted as saying on Friday, June 16.

"For comparison, MotoGP also makes Mandalika lose, but only IDR 50 billion," continued the statement.

In addition, this account also conveyed that the plan to withdraw Mandalika from the WSBK event was the impact of the Mandalika Circuit project which still left a debt of IDR 4.6 trillion.

"The debt is divided into a short term obligation of Rp1.2 T and a long term of Rp3.4 T. To settle short-term debt, WSBK needs to be deleted," wrote the user of the @LambeResing account while including a news link.

This news immediately became the attention of netizens who expressed various opinions. Some reacted early to the issue of the elimination of WSBK at the Mandalika Circuit because they thought the event was not accommodated properly.

However, there are also those who regret the deletion plan because they think the event could be income for local residents.

"Yang ngide membuat circuit skala internasional di lombok siapa coba, rata-tidak penduduk indonesia itu ada di pulau Jawa.. mau nyasar market turis terlalu sedikit kalau dibandingkan jumlah penduduk Indo... yang kalau ini terus akan jadi circuit mati," tulis pengguna akun @guntur_pa**i.

"Interestingly, I personally have a good friend in Lombok who is a travel guide now there. He said, WSBK is very crowded in Lombok and the room in Lombok is full for this MotoGP later. Hopefully it won't be canceled, economically it will make Lombok go up if he tells the story," wrote the user of the @Bal***k account.
