Puan Maharani Proud Of Indonesia's General Champion Hattrick Achievement At The 2023 ASEAN Para Games

JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, proudly welcomed the Indonesian contingent of Games who won the General Champion title at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia. Puan expressed her appreciation and pride, especially because Indonesia managed to come out as the overall champion in three consecutive events.

The arrival of the ASEAN Para Games Indonesian contingent was welcomed by Puan at Adi Sumarmo Airport, Solo, on Saturday (10/6/2023) at 17.00 WIB. Puan congratulated and welcomed athletes and coaches who had struggled in multi-branch sporting events for athletes with disabilities in Southeast Asia.

"I am proud of the achievements of the Indonesian contingent at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games which will be held in Cambodia. The achievements of all members of the Indonesian contingent are able to bring Indonesia a hat trick to the overall champion of the ASEAN Para Games," said Puan.

In addition to congratulating her, Puan also gave awards to several athletes by draping flowers as a form of appreciation for the brilliant achievements of the Indonesian contingent. He also chatted with the athletes.

This achievement is proof that the efforts and dedication made by all members of the Indonesian contingent have never betrayed the results. Puan thanked them for their hard work and dedication which succeeded in bringing Indonesia to brilliant achievements with medals that exceeded the set target.

In the 2023 ASEAN Para Games, Indonesia won 159 gold medals, 148 silver medals, and 94 bronze medals, with a total of 401 medals. This figure exceeds the target set by the Government, namely 121 gold medals.

Indonesia managed to outperform its toughest competitor, Thailand, who was ranked second with 126 gold, 109 silver and 92 bronze medals. Vietnam is in third place with 66 gold, 58 silver and 77 bronze medals.

This success is also a milestone, because Indonesia has won the highest number of medals since its participation in the ASEAN Para Games, although not as the host.

Puan also asked the Government to immediately give bonuses to athletes and coaches as an award for their achievements in this event. Bonuses will be given based on the type of medal won, be it gold, silver, or bronze.

In addition, Puan invited all contingent members to take advantage of the momentum of the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in preparation for other prestigious sporting events.

Meanwhile, Indonesian mini badminton athletes at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games, Dimas Triaji expressed their gratitude for Puan's support. Dimas is one of the athletes who received flower necklaces from Puan, this afternoon.

Dimas, who managed to bring home the gold medal in the men's doubles badminton sport SH6 and the bronze medal for the Badminton series in the Men's Singles SH6 number, hopes to continue to receive support from the Indonesian people.

"For the people of Indonesia, continue to support Para Games athletes," said Dimas Triaji.
