The Indonesian Women's Badminton Team Only Wins Silver Medals In The 2023 SEA Games Team Number, Reply In Individual!

JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's badminton team failed to present a gold medal at the 2023 SEA Games. The PBSI squad had to settle for silver after losing 0-3 to Thailand in the individual event final, Thursday, May 11.

In the top match, three Indonesian representatives, namely the women's singles Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, as well as the Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, were forced to admit the advantage of badminton players from the White Elephant Country.

Head of the Development and Achievement Division of PP PBSI Rionny Mainaky asked the women's badminton players to avenge their defeat to Thailand in the 2023 SEA Games individual event at Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

"I hope if we meet again with the opponent earlier, we can revans," said Rionny, after the match.

Responding to the defeat, Rionny assessed that the results did not provide at least experience for the women's badminton players of the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.

"These results provide experience for our women's players. They are young players, they must make them more confident in playing," Rionny explained.

According to Rionny, the three Indonesian representatives who had competed had put quite difficult pressure on the opponent even though the results did not match expectations.

Komang, who opened the final round match, lost two straight games 19-21, 17-21 from Lalinrat Chaiwan. The pressure he gave was actually good," said Rionny.

"The commander played well earlier but still has to develop a way to suppress it, when leading, the pressure must be even more," said Rionny, as reported by Antara.

Meanwhile, the Ana/Tiwi pair who participated in the second party faced a difficult opponent, namely Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai. Ana/Tiwi also lost to two straight games 11-21, 15-21 from the 9th ranked pair in the world.

Ana/Tiwi's struggle was ended in just 36 minutes, and their game didn't even develop since the start of the match.

"For Ana/Tiwi, the start was not good. After that, they started to find rhythms but there were still a lot of mistakes myself, not consistent," said Rionny.

In the third match, the single number was played again, which this time was filled with competition between Ester and Supanida Katethong. Ester, who was originally expected to win and give extra breath to the Garuda Putri Squad, unfortunately had to be beaten by two straight games 11-21, 12-21.

"For Ester, it was good, the strokes and pattern of the game were correct but there were still no variations. This must continue to be improved and improved in individuals," said Rionny about his evaluation.

Even though he had to go home with a silver medal, Rionny was grateful that the women's team team could perform well. He hopes that his athletes can get better results in individual numbers.

In addition, the Indonesian badminton national team also has the opportunity to win a team badminton gold medal from the men's team that will face Malaysia in the final round.

"We are grateful for the achievement of the silver medal from the women's team and it is hoped that in the men's team we can take the gold medal," concluded Rionny.
