JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially released the Indonesian contingent to the 2024 SEA Games in Cambodia which will take place from May 5-17.

Located in the courtyard of the State Palace on Tuesday morning, May 2, Jokowi also gave a target so that Indonesia could bring home more medals than the previous edition.

"By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning the 32nd SEA Games contingent in Cambodia in 2023, I declare that it will depart," said Jokowi.

"I only ordered at the Vietnam SEA Games, we got at that time a 69 gold medal and our ranking in third place. Now it should be more than that, I ask for the gold above 69 and the ranking as well. The choice is ranked first or second," Jokowi continued about the target.

At the beginning of the event, Dito Ariotedjo also delivered his remarks and presentations. The 32-year-old minister announced that for the SEA Games in Cambodia, Indonesia officially sent a total of 599 athletes consisting of 379 male athletes and 270 female athletes.

"Thank you to the president who is willing to accept us to release the 32nd SEA Games contingent in Cambodia. We want to convey the readiness of athletes out of a total of 599 athletes who were accompanied by 230 officials and 55 medical personnel, a total of 884 people," said Menpora Dito Ariotedjo.

In this year's multi-event event, Indonesia will participate in the gold hunt in 31 sports out of a total of 36 that are competed.
