JAKARTA - AS Roma's young midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo announced he was positive for COVID-19, through his official Instagram account.
Zaniolo has been out of action since March last year with a knee injury, but he has started training at Trigoria in recent weeks.
Zaniolo received this injury while defending Roma against Juventus in an Italian League match played in January 2020.
"Hello everyone, unfortunately, my test is positive for COVID-19 after a swab test this morning. I feel fine, I have no symptoms, but of course I am starting to undergo quarantine," said the 21-year-old.
"I hope I can return to Trigoria as soon as possible, meanwhile I will support my team-mates from home," he added. However, the post has now been deleted.
Zaniolo's club, Roma, failed to win in their last two matches in the Italian League this season.
They were even beaten by city rivals Lazio with a score of 0-3 on their last appearance, although they were still able to secure third place in the standings.
