Negative PCR Test Result, Kevin Sanjaya Ready To Train Again

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles badminton leader Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo said he was ready to return to training after two PCR tests showed negative COVID-19 results.

Kevin has undergone two tests at Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital, North Jakarta. The first test, which was carried out Saturday, January 9, came back negative.

Kevin is required to take a second swab test at an interval of 24 to 72 hours from the previous test. Kevin was actually declared cured after a negative result was also obtained in the second test which was carried out on Monday, January 11.

"Praise God I have had two swab tests and the results were negative. Thank you for all the prayers and support, "said Kevin as quoted by Antara from the PBSI website.

"Then I will recover and start training again in the next few days," said Kevin.

Reflecting on his experience of being exposed to COVID-19, the 25-year-old player also reminded all people to adhere to established health protocols.

Doctors at PBSI National Training Center, Cipayung, Octaviani, have also allowed Kevin to return to training. According to him, based on his two negative test results and 21 days after he was first exposed to COVID-19 on December 20, 2020, Kevin was declared cured.

"He has tested negative twice and 21 days have passed, so actually Kevin can practice again," said Octaviani.

Kevin previously tested positive on December 20, 2020 prior to the team's departure for Thailand. The symptoms he experienced were felt around mid-December, such as not being able to smell food and a little flu.

Based on the two subsequent swab tests he took on December 28 and 31, the results also remained positive.

Because three times the test showed positive results, Kevin could not appear in Bangkok, Thailand. Together with Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, the pair nicknamed the Minions failed to participate in three Asian Leg tournaments in early 2021 in the White Elephant Country.
