JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) has accelerated the schedule of meetings with club owners or representatives to discuss the continuation of League 1 and 2, from January 22 to January 15.

President Director of LIB Akhmad Hadian Lukita told Antara in Jakarta, Tuesday that the changes were made because of a request from the club.

"The request of most clubs," he said.

LIB and club meetings will take place virtually because of the Government's Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to reduce the rate of spread of COVID-19.

The meeting itself was held to find a way out regarding the 2020 League 1 and 2 seasons, which were closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The results of these activities will later be given to PSSI who will discuss it in the Executive Committee (Exco) meeting.

However, when confirmed separately, the acting Secretary General of PSSI Yunus Nusi could not confirm when the intended Exco meeting would be held.

What is certain is that apart from the league issue, the meeting will also discuss the PSSI annual congress in February.

"We will also discuss the program and plans for the annual congress," said Yunus, who also serves as a member of the Exco PSSI.

Regarding the continuation of League 1 and 2, Indonesia has not yet found a bright spot because the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) has not given permission for the crowds to do so because the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet been controlled.

PSSI and LIB had expressed their wish for League 1 and 2 to be screened in February 2021. However, the absence of permission from the Police until mid-January 2021 made this wish difficult to materialize.
