Served For RI, Former Boxers Ellyas Pical And Chris John Achieved Awards From KONI

JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) awarded two former professional boxers, namely Ellyas Pical and Chris John.

The award was handed over at the 2023 KONI National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Sultan Senayan Hotel, Jakarta, Sunday, March 12.

Chairman of the Central KONI Marciano Norman directly handed over the award to the former world champion at the National Working Meeting which carried the theme "Sinergitas and Solidity of Sports Stakeholders Leading Athletes to Win".

"We invite all sports stakeholders to unite in explaining the government's policy on sports, to jointly improve the quality of athlete coaching and sports organization governance so that in the future sports can raise Indonesia in participating in singles or international multi-events," Marciano said quoting Antara.

According to Marciano, the two former national athletes deserve an award from KONI because they are considered meritorious for Indonesian sports.

In addition to two former Indonesian boxers, there are four other sports figures who received similar appreciation, namely former badminton player Icuk Sugiato, former Yayuk Basuki tennis player, former footballer and national team coach U-16 Bima Sakti, and East Java KONI chairman two periods 2012-2016 and 2017-2021 Erlangga Satriagung.

On this occasion, Marciano also invited all parties to support the XXI/2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh-North Sumatra.

"PON 2024 will be the first to be held in two provinces and followed by 38 provinces throughout Indonesia. I hope that the PON Grand Committee (PB) involved can continue to be in contact with the Central KONI so that the implementation of the 2024 PON can be better than before," concluded Marciano.
