Efforts To Improve Indonesian Football

JAKARTA - The Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, is included in the list of permanent candidates who will fight at the PSSI extraordinary congress (KLB) on February 16.

He will compete with Arief Putra Wicaksono, Doni Setiabudi, Fary Djemi Francis, and LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti to the PSSI 1 seat.

The former President of Inter Milan assessed that Indonesian football is currently in a lot of trouble. Therefore, it is necessary for all parties to work together to fix it.

He said that if given the mandate to become the number one person in PSSI, he would invite all parties to find a solution together for the good of Indonesian football.

"In improving something, it needs cooperation. It needs an agreement. I spoke with the voters, one of which is what the rule of the game wants. Improvements must be made, but because of togetherness," said Erick in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 7.

Erick Thohir promised to prioritize the construction of facilities for the Indonesian national team if it was elected as the General Chair of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI).

"A country of this size and this rich does not have facilities for the Indonesian national team. It must be built first if possible next year," he said.

At KLB there will be a total of 87 voters or voting rights owners who will determine the executive committee for the next four years. The election of the chairman, vice chairman, and members of the executive committee will be carried out separately.

To be able to get seats in PSSI's body, all contestants must at least get 50 percent +1 of the votes from the voters or around 45 votes if 87 voters are all present at the congress later.

In addition to the five permanent candidates for the general chairman, there are 16 candidates for deputy chairman and 55 candidates for executive committee members will also enliven the KLB later. Later there will be 15 people who will fill the executive committee, consisting of one general chairman, two representatives, and 12 members, respectively.
