JAKARTA - The fate of the continuation of the League 2 competition is still being discussed. PT Liga Indonesia as the operator, continues to communicate with PSSI and also the club. PT. LIB has planned to roll back Liga 2 on January 14, 2023. There are several options that have emerged regarding the organizing scheme.

Persipura Jayapura manager Yan Permenas Mandenas said several options were proposed by the club at a meeting with PT LIB at a hotel in Jakarta, recently.

"There are those who want the league to continue running with a home and away system with spectators, but there are also those who propose a bubble. There are also those who ask for the operator to be replaced," said Mandenas as quoted by Antara, Friday, December 16.

Mandenas also issued a sad fact. He said, there were a number of clubs that wanted to stop in the middle of the road due to financial problems.

This is the impact of the vacuum of the competition since last October 2.

"Some want to stop due to financial difficulties," he said.

Persipura itself, said Mandenas, wants League 2 to continue. The reason is, according to Persipura, League 1 has rolled out, League 2 must also be done because it has a relationship regarding promotion and relegation.

He said that the club also has an obligation to the sponsor in terms of accountability for the use of funds that have been given to Persipura.

"So if the competition is not held, it will be difficult for the club to be held accountable even if next season submitting a sponsorship support proposal, it will not necessarily be given because it is not certain that the competition in Indonesia," he said.

He added that his party did not want this to burden the club due to the competition that did not roll out. For this reason, PT LIB is expected to be consistent in holding competitions.
