Rinov/Pitha Focus On Increasing Power, Speed And Mental Combat Ahead At BWF World Tour Finals

JAKARTA - Indonesian mixed doubles pair Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari continued to boost training with a focus on increasing strength and durability ahead of their first appearance at the BWF World Tour Finals 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, 7-11 December.

"My preparation so far has been quite good. Power, speed, mentality, and durability in the field is my focus in training," said Rinov, quoted from Antara, Sunday.

"Alhamdulillah, the preparation is sufficient, only a few percent remains. If I try to increase power, focus, and how to continue to appear consistent," Pitha said.

The strength and durability are important factors that must be improved for Rinov/Pitha because these two aspects are often the cause of Indonesia's mixed double defeat when dealing with the world's top pairs.

Rinov/Pitha qualified for the 2022 BWF World Tour Finals thanks to their performances this year. The world number 13 pair have never won the title this season and have only been runners-up in the Malaysia Masters (Super 500).

While in several high-level tournaments, Rinov/Pitha always stopped in the first half or the second half after losing to opponents who rank above them.

Rinov/Pitha, who are in sixth place in the World Tour, will again face the world's top pair at the season-ending tournament in Bangkok, including the world number three pair Zheng Si Wei/Huang Ya Qiong (China), defending champion Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai (Thailand), and Olympic gold winner Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dong Ping (China).

Although he admits that the competition will be difficult later, Rinov/Pitha are grateful to be able to get the opportunity to appear in the tournament which was only attended by the eight best representatives.
