Mexican Footballer Miguel Layun Defends Messi Who Was 'Attacked' By Canelo

JAKARTA - Mexican footballer Miguel Layun sided with Lionel Messi following criticism by famous boxer Canelo Alvarez for the behavior of the Argentina captain in the locker room.

After the match between Argentina and Mexico at the Qatar 2022 World Cup which ended 2-0 to the Albiceleste, Canelo was angered after seeing a video showing Messi slightly kicking the Mexico shirt on the dressing room floor after the game.

The boxer was against Messi and said he wished he had not met La Pulga so he would not have hit him. However, another Mexican, Layun, actually sided with Messi.

"Brother, you have always defended Mexico; like few others, you have made millions of us proud. I share your opinion", Layun said on Twitter.

"We leave our T-shirts on the floor sweating and, usually, they take them to be washed before handing them over", he continued.

Previously, Messi's former partner in the Argentina national team, Sergio Aguero also criticized Canelo.

"Canelo, don't look for excuses or problems, for sure you don't know about football and what goes on in the locker room", said Aguero.

"T-shirts are always on the floor after the game is over with sweat and then if you look closely, he steps up to take off his shoes and accidentally bumps into them."
