The U-20 Indonesian National Team Was Beaten By France Six Goals Without Reply, Shin Tae-yong: We Must Waste Fear

JAKARTA - The U-20 Indonesian national team lost a landslide when they met France U-20 in a test match in Murcia, Spain, Friday, November 18, 2022, early morning WIB. Garuda Nusantara was beaten by six goals without reply.

Indonesia coach, Shin Tae-yong said this crushing defeat was due to the fear of his players. The South Korean tactician assessed that Ronaldo Kwateh and his friends often lost before competing when meeting teams with better quality with higher player posture.

"We want players to fight a strong team and the quality above them so they don't be afraid and have to be mentally strong. The players' abilities are actually very good, but because they are afraid first so we can't show the best game," Shin said, on the official PSSI website.

Apart from being mental, the South Korean coach also said that his physical condition was another reason for Garuda Nusantara's defeat in that match. According to him, his team's condition has not recovered 100 percent after being tired of undergoing training camps in Turkey.

"The condition of the players has not recovered. They are exhausted after undergoing TC (red-training camp) in Turkey," Shin said, as reported by Antara.

As is known, Garuda Nusantara arrived in Spain, after completing the TC in Turkey, on Tuesday, November 15, and only underwent his first training the next day in Spanish time. This means that the U-20 national team only has less than two days to prepare for France.

According to Shin, because he was still tired after a long trip from Turkey, the U-20 national team made mistakes when they met France.

"The mistakes cost us a goal. We have to evaluate this," said Shin.

The match against France will be the first for the Indonesian U-20 national team in Spain. Next, the squad nicknamed "Garuda Nusantara" will face Slovakia on Saturday, November 19.
