After Making Sure To Escape To The Round Of 16 Of The Champions League, AC Milan Is Not Great To Face The Superior Team

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli said his team was ready to face the seed team in the last 16 of the 2022/2023 European Champions League after they qualified as group runners-up.

The Italian champions made sure to qualify for the knockout stages after beating RB Salzburg 4-0 in the last match of Group E at the San Siro Stadium, Thursday, November 3 in the morning WIB.

They collected 10 points or three points adrift of Chelsea who finished the top. Being runner up makes Milan likely to face FC Porto, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Manchester City, Real Madrid, or Tottenham Hotspur, in the knockout stages later.

"It doesn't matter who we are facing. After all, [against the seed] it will increase [we are] and it will be difficult," Pioli said as quoted by Football Italia, Thursday, November 3, 2022.

This is the first time the Rossoneri have recorded successive wins since 2011. Previously, in the fifth week yesterday they defeated the representative of Krosia, Dinamo Zagreb.

Qualifying for the knockout stages allowed Milan to return to glory in Europe after going through a bad period over the last few years which made them rarely play on this highest stage.

In fact, in the history of the competition they are the second most-highest title collectors after Real Madrid. They have seven titles or half of what Madrid have collected so far.

"We have to be ambitious in the Champions League and fear nothing. Whoever our opponents are, we will find Milan's team with faith," Pioli said.

Milan was one of the last two teams to secure a ticket to the last 16 in the early hours of this morning. Another ticket was obtained by RB Leipzig who qualified as runner-up in Group F after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk.

The draw for the last 16 of the 2022/2023 Champions League will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 18.00 WIB. The draw will be held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
