Bagnaia Or Quartararo Rebut MotoGP World Champion In Valencia, If...

JAKARTA - The 2022 MotoGP entered the closing series this weekend at the Valencia Grand Prix. Mathematical calculations Francesco Bagnaia has a bigger chance of becoming world champion.

However, Fabio Quartararo has yet to be crossed out of competition. He also had a very small chance.

Racing in Valencia will take place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit on Sunday, November 6. This will be a life-to-life battle for the two potential champions.

Bagnaia currently occupies the top position of the standings with a collection of 258 points. He is 23 points ahead of Quartararo, the defending champion.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider became the most prominent rider during the second half of the championship. The Italian racer was still 91 points behind Quartararo before winning in Assen, the Netherlands.

Bagnaia began to appear consistent after securing his third win of the season at Assen. After that, he won three times in a row before securing his seventh win at the Malaysian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

With a sizeable advantage of Quartararo, the path to the world title is even easier for Bagnaia. The reason is, even if he fails to finish, the title remains his if Quartararo fails to win.

In addition, with a 23-point advantage, Bagnaia only needed two points to become the new world champion in MotoGP. The Italian rider can get the two points by finishing in 14th (P14).

If Bagnaia finishes in that position and Quartararo wins, both riders have the same number of points. However, Bagnaia has the right to become world champion because of the superior number of wins from French riders.

On the other hand, Quartararo had to face much tougher conditions to be able to defend his title. He has a very small chance so that even the maximum struggle is not necessarily able to make him happy.

To be able to become a champion, Quartararo had to win the race at Tormo. However, this victory must be accompanied by a bad result that Bagnaia got, finishing in P15 or worse than that.

If that scenario occurs, Quartararo will automatically collect 260 points. Meanwhile, Bagnaia collected 259 points. That is the single super heavy requirement that the Yamaha rider must pass.
