Barcelona It Turns Out That They Still Have A Debt To Their Former Coach Quique Setien

JAKARTA Barcelona is still in debt. Recently, the Blaugrana giants are known to have not paid off their former coach Quique Setien.

It was revealed in the latest interview of the 64-year-old tactician after watching Villarreal's new team draw 2-2 with Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Conference League on Thursday night.

"They haven't paid me yet. Not all of them have," said Setieren as quoted by Marca, Friday.

He later added that he had reached an agreement with Barca to make payments that were in arrears in installments.

"I told them that I gave them the opportunity they needed. That's normal. I understand the institutions I really appreciate," he added, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Setien took over Barcelona in early 2020 following the sacking ofISIh Valverde. However, former head coach Real Betis has only lasted eight months in his role.

He was sacked after the Blaugrana were emotionally eliminated in the European Champions League quarter-finals for the 2019/2020 season after a 2-8 defeat against German giant Bayern Munich.

After eliminating Setien, the La Liga giant then appointed Ronald Koeman as their new coach. However, the Dutch coach was also unable to deliver success, except for the only Copa del Rey trophy.

Setien himself has now returned to the coaching chair after being chosen by Villarreal to replace Unai Emery to go to the Premier League to lead Aston Villa. He made his debut when his team drew with Hapoel.
