FIFA Representatives Targeting The Indonesian League To Immediately Scroll Again After The Conflict Of Struggle

JAKARTA - FIFA representative Niko Nhouvannasak said he would try to ensure that the national league competition could resume after the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

This was conveyed by Niko after together with representatives of AFC and PSSI held a meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 12. The FIFA representatives who accompanied include Chen Jun and Serge Dumotier.

"What we are doing here is gathering information to find out what has happened. Then with that information we will hold a meeting to produce concrete action plans to ensure the league can roll on again," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 12.

The Indonesian League competition is still suspended since the incident earlier this month. PT LIB as the competition operator announced the termination lasted for two weeks.

During the termination, the relevant parties will conduct an in-depth evaluation so that the same incident does not happen again.

The evaluation includes stadium security audits and other regulations related to the security and handling of supporters.

Niko said, in addition to ensuring that the league could start again, he and the FIFA representatives also have tasks related to the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will take place in Indonesia. The celebration must be able to run safely after the tragedy.

"Then there is the 2023 U-20 World Cup which must be able to run safely. I represent FIFA and also express my condolences to the victims, families of victims, and all football lovers in Indonesia. FIFA and AFC here together with PSSI aim to ensure this incident does not happen again in the future," he said.

The tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium killed a total of 132 lives. This incident caused Indonesia's concern to be subject to severe sanctions from FIFA so that next year's U-20 World Cup will be threatened.

Luckily, the sanctions that were feared were not imposed by the parent of international football. Instead, they sent their representatives to help Indonesia carry out the transformation of football so that it would be better.
