JAKARTA - The Indonesian Volleyball League (Livoli) competition is expected to be a place to prepare athletes to defend medals at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.
Livoli of the Main Division and National Championships (Kejurnas) of the Club or known as Division One will resume this month after two years of vacuum from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chair III for the Competition and Competition of PP PBVSI Hanny S. Sukatty hopes that this event can screen potential athletes for nearby international events.
"Hopefully the start of Livoli will continue with Proliga in early January, we hope that our soccer athletes can defend their SEA Games medals in Cambodia," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
The Indonesian men's volleyball national team previously won a gold medal at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games which was just held this year. The Red and White took the highest podium after beating the host Vietnam 3-0.
This success repeats the previous achievements at the Philippine SEA Games which was held in 2019. For this reason, Sukatty hopes that Indonesia can make a gold medal hat trick next year.
"We maintain (gold medial during the two SEA Games in a row. Indoor volleyball and sand [hopefully] we can defend it," said Sukatty.
