JAKARTA - Ducati racer Francesco Bagnaia had to settle for second place in MotoGP Aragon. Bagnaia's attempt to become the champion was broken by Enea Bastianini on the final lap.

While appearing at the Aragon Circuit, Spain on Sunday, September 18, Bagnaia actually benefited because he started racing as pole sitter. Throughout the 22 laps that were passed, Bagnaia also lived it with a promising appearance.

However, Bagnaia's attempt to win the race in Bastian's last lap. Bastian managed to keep his distance less than a second behind Bagnaia and overtake him at the last 7 laps to finish 0.042 seconds faster than Bagnaia.

Bagnaia admits that he was unable to outperform Bastian in terms of having gone through a lot of risks along the previous lap.

On the last lap I felt I could not overtake Enea (Bastianini) again, because I had taken too many risks on the previous laps. So 20 points are important," said Bagnaia, quoted on the official MotoGP website, Monday.

Despite failing to become a champion, Bagnaia still showed a sportsmanship by appreciating Bastian's achievements, both of which came from Italy. In addition, Bagnaia also mentioned a little about Fabio Quartararo.

Bagnaia is concerned because rivals in the hunt for the top of the standings were eliminated in the first lap due to an incident against Marc Marquez's motorbike.

With the finish on the second podium, Bagnaia has now cut its distance from 30 points to 10 points only from the Yamaha racer, Quartararo. Aleix Espargaro is 17 points away in third place and Bastianini is ranked fourth with 48 points with five races remaining.
