Cristiano Ronaldo Still Has Champions League Standards Despite Playing In Friday's Night League'

JAKARTA Manchester United legend Paul Schholes says Cristiano Ronaldo is a player who still has Champions League standards even though he currently plays in the Europa League.

Ronaldo while playing in Europe's second tier or known as the 'Friday Night League' player for the first time since 2002 after the Red Devils failed to qualify for the European Champions League last season.

Scholes believes that playing in the second tier of competition between European clubs has not lowered the standards of a CR7. According to him, after all Ronaldo is a player who still has level in the Champions League.

"We can't call him a Europa League player. We can't," Scholes said.

Ronaldo, who is currently 37 years old, has played since the first minute when Manchester United suffered a 0-1 defeat last week to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford. He then started again on Thursday night when Erik ten Hag's team beat Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0.

It is the third CR7 starter of the season from eight games the Red Devils have played.

In that match Ronaldo scored from the spot following a foul against Diogo Dalot to double MU's lead after Jadon Sancho's opener.

"He's a Champions League player of course, he's at a club where he is currently and has to settle for it [Liga Europa]," said Schholes.

The goal against the Sheriff was Ronaldo's 699th goal at the club level. In addition, the Sheriff is the 144th team that Ronaldo managed to concede in all competitions.

Furthermore, MU will play the third match of the Group E elimination against the host problemnia on 6 October. Currently,mainnia is still the caretaker of the group standings after losing twice.
