JAKARTA - Persebaya Surabaya lost 1-2 when hosting RANS Nusantara FC in the 2022/2023 Liga 1 continued at the Sidoardjo Gelora Delta Stadium, Thursday, September 15, yesterday.

In that match, Persebaya actually took the lead through Sho Yamamoto's goal in the 28th minute.

Receiving a pass from Yamamoto right before the RANS goal, Juninho seemed less calm in controlling the ball. He instead lost balance so that the round skin rolled away.

Persebaya Surabaya coach Aji Santoso made a scathing criticism of the player.

"I've told Junior. What kind of ball do you want? Standing free one meter in front of goal still failed to score a goal," said Aji Santoso.

"In fact, if it bears fruit, the game will be different and the children will appear more confident," he continued.

Juninho's failure had to be paid dearly. The reason is, RANS then scored two reply goals which were entirely contributed by Edo Febriansyah to turn things around and bring home the full three points.

Not only criticizing Juninho, Aji also highlighted the appearance of his defense, which he said was fragile in reducing the onslaught of Raffi Ahmad's team player.

Aji said he was disappointed with the failure of goalkeeper Andika Ramadhani to secure the long-range kick ball from midfielder Mitsuru Maruoka.
