JAKARTA - Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have decided to stay at Manchester United after his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro joined Old Trafford.

The information was conveyed by Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida through his Twitter account.

Ronaldo has reportedly communicated with the Red Devils board and changed his stance.

"Cristiano Ronaldo chose to stay at Manchester United. The arrival of Casemiro was important for that decision," wrote Almeida.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner returned to Old Trafford earlier this season after spending three seasons at Juventus. However, he faced a harsh reality in his inaugural season with the Red Devils.

Despite his brilliant individual performance, scoring 24 goals (18 in the Premier League and six in the Champions League), United ended the season finishing in sixth place in the league table and failed to win a trophy.

This unwanted result made Ronaldo ask the club to let him go this season. The desire is still strong even though he has appeared in two matches in the Premier League.

But if Almeida's report is correct, then the Portugal international will continue to play at Old Trafford to complete the second year of his contract.

Ronaldo and co so far are still looking for their first win after losing the first two games. They will next host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Tuesday, August 23 early this morning.
