Hamstring Injury, Muhammad Ferarri Absent From Defending The U-19 National Team Against Brunei Darussalam

JAKARTA - Indonesian U-19 National Team defender Muhammad Ferarri suffered a hamstring injury.

He was also confirmed to be absent against Brunei Darussalam in the second match of Group A of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup.

The Persija Jakarta player was injured while strengthening the Garuda squad against Vietnam in the first group match at Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, West Java, on Saturday, July 2.

He was withdrawn early in the second half.

"There are no detailed reports yet. However, the hamstring injury is definitely severe. It may take a month to recover," Shin Tae-yong said at a press conference after the match, reported by Antara, Sunday, July 3.

Losing Ferrari will be a major blow to Shin Tae-yong's squad.

The reason is, the player who is now 19 years old is the team captain.

Ferrari is the one Shin has included in training camps and test matches for the Indonesian U-19 national team at home and abroad since 2021.

The Indonesian and Vietnamese national teams then shared a point after the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

These results put Indonesia in fourth place in the Group A standings for the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup.

The first position is currently still in the hands of Myanmar which in the first match crushed Brunei Darussalam 7-0. As for the second position belongs to Thailand who beat the Philippines 1-0.
