There's A Chance For Thiago To Play In The Champions League Final

JAKARTA - Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said he was open to fielding Thiago Alcantara when his team faced Real Madrid in the Champions League final at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris, Saturday night local time.

Quoted from the club's official website on Thursday, Klopp said he had met with Thiago and saw there was a good opportunity to field the Spaniard on Saturday.

The German said yesterday morning that Thiago had been able to do a few things and he thought the midfielder was fit for this morning's training session.

"It's very good. After the game (on Sunday) I wasn't very positive about it, but we got the news that the night didn't look too bad and from there we went. Now we wait," Klopp was quoted as saying by Antara, Thursday.

"I can imagine everyone now thinking, 'Three days before the game, can't train...' But we just have to believe we're doing the right thing at the right time and that's what we're trying to do."

Previously, Thiago had undergone a scan for an Achilles injury and although the problem is not serious, his chances of appearing in the Champions League final are considered very balanced.

Thiago is known to get injured when Liverpool faced Wolves in the last week of the Premier League which ended with the Reds winning 3-1 last Sunday.

Thiago provided an assist for Sadio Mane which was Liverpool's first goal of the game after trailing Wolves earlier to a goal from Pedro Neto.

Unfortunately, Thiago had to be pulled off a few minutes before the end of the first half after his muscles pulled when trying to kick the ball.

This season, the 31-year-old has become an important part of Liverpool, making 38 appearances and scoring 2 goals and 5 assists. In addition, the Spaniard has donated an English League Cup and FA Cup for Liverpool this season.
