Junior Athlete Andi Sultan Wins Bronze At The 2022 World Championship

JAKARTA - Junior athlete Andi Sultan has added to Indonesia's medal coffers in the 2022 Goyang World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship in Goyang, South Korea, said taekwondo national team manager Laras Fitriana Novianty Sumarna.

To Antara, Laras said Andi Sultan was in third place along with Vietnam's Thanh An Ho when he took part in the freestyle Poomsae under 17 individual male, which took place on Saturday, April 23 local time.

Meanwhile, the deputy host Jin Ho Lee ensured the gold medal. The silver was won by the representative of the United States (US) Anthony Do. "Indonesia's medal has increased from Andi Sultan who won bronze in the freestyle Poomsae under 17 individual male class", said Laras.

Andi Sultan appeared in the championship which took place in South Korea after previously winning gold medals in the Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge II and the Online World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Final in the under-17 individual male freestyle Poomsae class.

"So Andi Sultan was dispatched for the Goyang World Poomsae Championship 2022. Also as an event to add experience and achievements", said Laras.

With the addition of medals from Andi, Indonesia has collected two bronze medals after the previous day Muhammad Rizal, Muhammad Alfi Kusuma, and Muhammad Hafidz who fell in the Under 30 team male recognized Poomsae and took third place with Vietnam.

In that number, the gold medal was won by Taiwan and the second place was occupied by the host, South Korea.

In total, there were five Red and White athletes who took part in the event, four of them were those who would be prepared for the SEA Games Hanoi, Vietnam, May 12-23, namely, Defia Rosmaniar, Muhammad Alfi, Muhammad Hafizh Fachrur Rhozy, and Muhammad Rizal.

The Goyang World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2022 will still compete in several numbers today, including the number that will be followed by Defia, namely Recognized Poomsae under 30 individual females.
