JAKARTA - Netflix's Director of Global Affairs Southeast Asia Ruben Hattari said that in the last four years, family films from Indonesia have often ranked in the Global Top 10.

"On Netflix, there is what we call the Global Top 10, for the past four years, there must be a family film that appears every week in the Global Top 10," said Ruben at a media meeting in Jakarta, Saturday.

According to Ruben, this achievement shows the opportunity for the platform to increase cooperation with local film creators to present more films that can be enjoyed with the family.

He said that according to Netflix data, about 90 percent of customers in Indonesia have watched local films and users of the service usually watch local films with their families at home.

"This is probably unique to Indonesian culture, maybe this is a slice of the gotong royong culture, we often watch it together," he said.

Ruben also said that by 2025, children's content accounted for around 22 percent of all views on Netflix.

According to him, Neflix has presented a "Kids and Family" category which includes series and films that can be enjoyed by children.

The Netflix platform is also equipped with parental control features and viewing adjustments with the user's age to ensure children can watch content that is appropriate for their age.

Ruben said that his platform supports efforts to provide a safe and comfortable digital space for children.

He appreciated the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of the Implementation of Electronic Systems in the Protection of Children or PP Tunas in an effort to provide a safe digital space for children.

"This is something I feel is not a one-sided task from the government, but the task of services like us, Netflix, the task of creators, because we often work with creators, and of course families," said Ruben.
