League 3 Clubs In Arrears Of Player Salaries Worth IDR 250 Thousand Per Year, PSSI Intervenes

JAKARTA - The parent of national football (PSSI) intervened to curb the problem of arrears in player salaries in League 3 clubs. The arrears were even only worth Rp. 250 thousand per year.

This issue was first reported by the Indonesian Professional Football Association (APP). The club which is reported to have arrears in the player's salary is in Pekanbaru.

"League 3 clubs are amateurs. That's why we will coordinate with the local Provincial Association (Asprov). Because that's their domain. We (PSSI) want the case to be resolved by the club owner," said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi in his official statement.

The League 3 club, which pays players' salaries of Rp. 250,000 per year, is reportedly the owner of a naturalized player from Cameroon. The players whose wages are in arrears are young players.

Until now the club concerned is still given time to resolve the issue amicably.

Yunus hopes that this case will be a lesson for club owners that it is not easy to manage a team because it costs a lot of money.

"If you have entered national football, you have to be responsible. That commitment must be kept and not to hurt the players," added Yunus.
