Mike Tyson Warns McGregor About Lifestyle: Money Makes You Sleep

JAKARTA - When Mike Tyson makes a statement about boxing, his voice still makes the boxing world rumble.

Considered a boxing authority after becoming king of the heavyweight division in the 1990s, Tyson's opinions are highly respected even by those of his rivals in the ring.

During an appearance on the HotBoxin podcast, "Iron Mike" noted that the large purse Connor McGregor has acquired could be a major obstacle he will face in the future, if he seeks to expand his legacy in mixed martial arts.

"It's hard to prepare for that lifestyle. When you have a $40 million fight and next week you have that money, and they tell you you have to fight again in six weeks, it blows you away," Tyson said, as quoted by Marca, Wednesday, April 13th.

McGregor has been trying to recover for almost a year after suffering a severe leg injury in UFC 264. The incident occurred when he faced Dustin Poirier who beat him in the first round in the third duel between the two fighters.

So far, the Irish fighter has started training for what could mean his return to the octagon. However, the details that could make a difference when he would fight again were the amount of bail he could offer and his physical condition.

From a financial standpoint, The Notorious is considered one of the richest sportsmen in Ireland. In addition to the money earned from his fights, he also invested in whiskey brands that were sold to transnational companies and allowed him to increase his fortune.
