JAKARTA - The Japanese racer, Takaaki Nakagami, will not participate in the Argentine MotoGP race. Nakagami was forced to miss out because he tested positive for COVID-19.

This was announced by the LCR Honda team via their official twitter account. Nakagami tested positive for COVID-19 before leaving for Termas de Rio Hondo.

The driver has no symptoms and underwent two more tests and all came back positive.

Nakagami will rest at home before trying to get fit again for next week's MotoGP America.

"Unfortunately, I will not be racing this weekend in Argentina. I had a positive PCR test before flying to Termas," Nakagami tweeted.

"I apologize to the team, sponsors and fans. I don't have any symptoms and I feel good, I'm just very sad and disappointed.

"I look forward to getting back on track again in Austin for the American MotoGP," said Nakagami.

Because HRC test rider Stefan Bradl has been assigned to replace Marc Marquez at Repsol Honda, Alex Marquez will be alone defending the LCR Honda team in Argentina.
